Old School Sexy

Today I wanted to talk a little bit about body image as well as media pressures to be overly skinny. Lets start by taking a look back in time and see what was sexy in the 50's and 60's.

Of course we can not talk about this time period with out bringing up Marilyn Monroe, Bettie Page and Norma Jean. These were some of the iconic girls of the past and were not afraid to show off. One thing I want to point out is that each of them were healthy. Take a look at there stomachs, notice how each of them have one and how when they are bent there are some curves/foulds? This is some thing you do not see today and if you do its in a trashy magazine at the checkout line. In those magazines they are tearing down celebrities because they are human.

Streach marks, fat, celulitus, etc.. all are more common than perfect skin. The media though would love to have you beleave it was a sin to show such things. This simply is not true and having a body with these things on it is nothing to be ashamed of. It just means you are alive and enjoying your life.

While we are on the subject we have to talk about BBW. This is a category that the media and advertising seem to overlook. I think there is definitly a market out there for larger men and women who want to look good and feel sexy that most industries are over looking.

Modeling as a whole seems to be lacking large figured models as I think a lot of them feel like no one wants to look at them.

I hope to get some more plus size models for the site and help change the way people look at them.
