Body image is some thing women and some times men seem to face. Being a larger set guy I know I have had my issues with being embarrassed from time to time. Though for the most part this was all limited to high school. In the end I have given up caring what strangers think of my body and to live my life. My friends all know I am a larger guy and they don't care. My wife loves me as well. So why should I bother what stangers are thinking about me?
For some this is easier than others. Many seek approval from every one and that is a tough situation because it will never happen. The idea is to find people who enjoy you for you and vice versa. If I were to go to the beach with friends and ware a speedo because I felt like it. I can guarantee none of them would stop being my friends. The might kid around a little bit about it but that's no big deal to me because I know they are fooling around.
An artist called Jordan Matter did a book about women and there right to go topless. In his book Uncovered, he was not afraid to feature women of all sizes. Better yet women of all sizes wanted to pose for his book. I believe overly that toplessness and nudity can play a large roll in body image. America as we know is not one to allow toplessness or nude beaches. True there are some but not as many as in other parts of the world. According to these eating disorder statistics the USA has the most deaths from this.
Many are blaming the media for presenting overly skinny models and actors. They are indeed doing that and I for one hope that they find a better way to sell products. If the internet has shown us any thing it is that there are plenty of people who prefer a larger woman or man over some one who is overly skinny. I thought I would leave any women reading this with a link to information about body image issues.
